Bermuda

The Government of Bermuda

The Government of Bemuda has supported the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Insitute since the mid-1980's through yearly grants. The funds from Bermuda have helped to support GCFI activities that have provided core services to the membership. The GCFI remains endebted to the Governemnt of Bermuda for their ongoing support.

NOAA

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration supports a number of programs through both the National Ocean Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service Programs that are sponsored include the Outstanding Student Award (through the Caribbean Fisheries Management Council), the Fisheries for Fishers Initiative, and a number of special sessions, core sessions, workshops, and symposia at the annual institute. The GCFI online proceedings search engine was produced under a grant from the Caribbean Council. Support for the Caribbean Marine Protected Areas Network and Forum (CaMPAM) is provided, in part, by Coral Reef Conservation Program. The Caribbean Fisheries Management Council provides funding to support English/Spanish simulataenous interpretation at the annual institutes and also supports the STROMBUS-L distribution list.

UNEP

The United Nations Environment Programme - Caribbean Environment Programme

The United Nations Environment Programme's Caribbean Environment Programme supports a number of programs including the Fisheries for Fishers program, and is the major sponsor for the Caribbean Marine Protected Areas Network and Forum (CaMPAM). UNEP-CEP provides the support for the Small Grants Program for Sustainable Fisheries and the Gladding Memorial Award.

SeaGrant

The SeaGrant Programs of Puerto Rico, Florida, and the Gulf of Mexico

The SeaGrant programs in the region support student awards at GCFI. Two annual travel awards are provided from the Puerto Rico Sea Grant Program and one Oustanding Student Award for Academic Achievement is supported by a consortium the Gulf of Mexico Sea Grant Programs (Florida Sea Grant, Mississippi/Alabama Sea Grant, Louisiana Sea Grant and Texas Sea Grant).
